Our Client

Our client is an innovative clothing designer and online retailer that leverages technology to transform and lead in their market. With operations in China and Vancouver they reach customers in over 50 countries worldwide.

As part of their newly established North American office and growing team, you will be the first Vancouver based programmer. Responsible for development, scalability and expansion of both back and front end functionality of their website and online shopping experience, you will work closely with design, analytics, customer service, and marketing team members to develop and create better customer experiences. This is not your regular 9 - 5 job, you will work within their collaborative, high energy startup environment. In addition, extended international travel to China will be part of your responsibilities as you spend time with and work with teams in Canada and China.

Responsibilites

• Primary responsibility will be to 'own' the technology infrastructure that serves customers and drives revenue for the company
• You will be responsible for ensuring the current and long term scalability of the website and for establishing and maintaining overall performance such that it provides outstanding customer experiences.
• Review the current code-base and recommend and implement new architecture as needed to ensure scalability as the company grows. 
• Work closely with the design team to create and put online ongoing product innovations.  You will be the 'go to' person to make the impossible happen and to create easy to use, never before seen apparel shopping features. 
• Working with the marketing team and founders to identify and provide key data and tracking requirements and coding them into the back end.  You will be revered for your ability to deliver insightful and meaningful metrics through harmonious data mining.
• Improve SEO and conversion rates through insights on web design best practices and testing.

Qualifications

• Demonstrable experience and ability to create and manage high-performance, high-load eCommerce and shopping website applications
• Strong working ability in PHP.
• Strong working knowledge of MySQL.
• Strong working ability of xhtml/css/javascript.
• Experience with Python an asset but not necessary.
• Excited at the prospect of putting everything into your work.
• Content working beyond regular business hours to discover truly innovative ideas.
• A deep belief in learning through doing.
• Dedicated to constant refinement and improvement in every task you take on.
• Understanding and appreciation of basic SEO practices.
