Java Developer, Intermediate

Nov 14, 2008 - Our client is a well-established Financial Institution located in Vancouver. They are currently seeking an Intermediate Java Developer for web banking projects. As the successful candidate, you have a university degree in computer science or software engineering or equivalent and minimum 5 years of relevant experience in software engineering, and 3 years J2EE Enterprise Java. You are experienced in the analysis and development of one or more moderately complex applications using an object-oriented methodology.

You have thorough knowledge and understanding of methods, standards and best practices with respect to software development. You are an analytical thinker with strong problem solving, organizational and time management skills. You communicate effectively both orally and in writing with technical teams and other co-workers, work to schedules, and adapt easily to changing priorities and business needs. You thrive in a team environment juggling multiple projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Design technical solutions and perform complex programming activities.
  • Carry out troubleshooting, testing and debugging of applications.
  • Comply with established development guidelines and standards.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of defined specifications.
  • Participate in code and design reviews.
  • Assist in establishing project schedules.
  • Provide input for Technical Writing department to produce documentation.

Requirements:

  • University degree in computer science.
  • 5 years of software development experience.
  • 3 years of J2EE Enterprise Java experience.
  • J2EE: EJB 2, EJB3 JSP, Servlet.
  • MS-SQL server, MySql and Hibernate.
  • MVC Frameworks such as Struts, Spring.
  • Web Services.
  • JUnit.
  • Experience with version control systems (CVS and Subversion).
  • Jboss and Tomcat application Server.
  • GOF and J2EE design patterns.
