Director of Editorial and Online Writing Community - Vancouver

The company is currently seeking a highly talented and seasoned individual to take over the leadership of the English language editorial department and lead the growth of their unique writer community. This is a director-level position that reports directly to the CEO.

The Job:

• Champion an explosively growing network of writers; challenge them to engage with the site and to write to set editorial standards
• Own the mission to make all writers as successful as possible in a Search-driven environment
• Maximize writer productivity and retention, increase writers' revenues
• Creatively develop, test and analyze community initiatives and communication improvements
• Lead and grow a large team including highly qualified full- and part-time editors, as well as editorial and community management staff members
• Constantly work at improving editorial processes, including adding tools to streamline the writing and editing process

Your profile:

• Authoritative background as a senior editor leading the editorial function and team of editors
• The ability to lead a diverse and distributed team as well as a demonstrated history of online writing experience is essential
• Proven enthusiastic motivator and teacher; tireless community advocate; strong personality
• A 'business' head for identifying problems and an ability to clearly articulate potential solutions and actions to deliver them
• Solid understanding of technology
• Knowledge of SEO practices a definite asset
• Graduate degree, native English speaker
• Living in (or able to relocate to) Vancouver, Canada
