Controller

June 12, 2009 - Located in Vancouver, our client is a long time player in the wholesale VoIP market. They are undergoing unprecedented change, launching new products and creating massive growth opportunities, and are in need of a Controller to join the senior management team and help manage the growth of the company.

They are looking for a high-energy, hands on, experienced accounting professional preferably with telecom experience. The ideal candidate will drive change and have a sense of urgency as well as be independent, self directed and process oriented. The ideal candidate will have CMA, CGA or CA with at least 5 years in a similar capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of accounting operations including: revenue recognition, general accounting, A/P, payroll, A/R, credit and collections, taxes, treasury, customer order management and billings, policy & procedure development and risk management.
  • Manage Human resources function for company
  • Develop a strong working relationship with the CEO as well as with the rest of the executive team
  • Lead effort to ensure adequate internal controls are in place
  • Drive change and process improvement within the Finance department and around the Company
  • Help establish financial requirements and process for new 'direct to consumer' product line
  • Prepare Board and management internal financial reporting packages, including various analytical analyses
  • Assist in development and revision of business plans
  • Generate various financial forecasting and budgeting including cash, expense and revenue forecasts

Requirements

  • Min. of 5 years experience in a similar senior accounting role
  • Telecom experience would be an asset
  • A finance/accounting generalist with both public and private experience and large and small company experience would be preferred
  • Able to communicate with all levels of personnel, including senior management and non-financial staff
  • Demonstrable experience preparing forecasting, budgeting and internal reporting packages at the board level
